Introducing the Brain Aging and Vascular Biology (BRAIV) Lab at the University of Michigan-Flint

BRAIV Lab investigates how brain aging and vascular biology interact to drive neurodegeneration, white matter injury, and cognitive decline. Our research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, neurovascular dysfunction, glial biology, iron metabolism, and ferroptosis-related mechanisms in aging and disease.

Our mission is to advance discoveries at the intersection of neuroscience and vascular biology while fostering innovation, collaboration, mentorship, and scientific excellence.

Through translational and interdisciplinary research, BRAIV Lab aims to uncover mechanisms underlying brain vulnerability during aging and identify pathways that may lead to future therapeutic interventions.
