Demystify
Brain Aging

Cutting-edge imaging techniques to visualize and understand brain structure and function at multiple scales.

Welcome to the BRAIV Lab

The Brain Aging and Vascular Biology (BRAIV) Lab, led by Philip A. Adeniyi, Ph.D., investigates the fundamental mechanisms linking brain aging to vascular biology, with a particular focus on how these processes contribute to neurodegeneration, white matter degeneration, and cognitive decline.

What We Do

Our work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, vascular biology, and cellular metabolism, aiming to uncover how brain cells and blood vessels interact across the lifespan.

Aging Biology Unit (ABU)

Aging Biology Unit (ABU)

Investigating the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain aging, including mitochondrial function, proteostasis, stem cell dynamics, and epigenetic changes that contribute to age-related neurological decline.

Dementia & Neurovascular Biology Unit (DNBU)

Dementia & Neurovascular Biology Unit (DNBU)

Exploring the intricate relationships between vascular dysfunction and neurodegeneration, with emphasis on blood-brain barrier integrity, cerebral blood flow regulation, and their role in cognitive decline and dementia pathogenesis.
